Hello, my name is Dr. Kavir Saxena.
I am board certified for treatment of both adults and children, and provide general psychiatric services primarily to adolescents and children on an outpatient basis at the Lanning Center. I have been working in psychiatry since 1996 in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
I completed my residency in India and received further training in Richmond, Virginia. I have been with Mary Lanning Healthcare since 2007, working on the Behavioral Services Unit, as well as at The Lanning Center.
Theoretical orientation/approach to treatment
My approach to mental health treatment is a bio-psycho-social model in which we partner together for your treatment. This model includes looking at all influences on your current health, including family history, social components and your own perceptions of how you are functioning. We will actively include your primary healthcare provider in your care. Your treatment may include lab work, or other diagnostic tests, as well as non-pharmacological recommendations to help manage your symptoms. Medication options will also be discussed and you will be monitored closely for any medication side effects, and how to manage these if they occur.
