Billing statements from Mary Lanning Healthcare cover services provided only by the hospital. Professional fees from emergency room physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologist, radiologists, pathologists etc. are billed separately. Each account is listed on the guarantor's monthly statement, along with the activity that has occurred on each account.
Mary Lanning Healthcare accepts many types of commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. We do not accept CHI narrow-network plans, including Blueprint Health.
What is a hospital-based outpatient department?
Some of Mary Lanning Healthcare’s outpatient services and clinics are designated as hospital-based outpatient departments (HOD). HODs operate under federal guidelines and are a nationally recognized model of practice. The designation simply means a hospital owns the practice and employs the staff involved in patient care. HODs are held to higher standards of care and are required to meet The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards for hospitals. TJC accreditation standards for hospitals are stricter than the standards set for non-hospital-based outpatient departments and clinics. Visits to an HOD may result in two charges – one for hospital services and one for physician services. Ask our registration staff if you have questions.
