Shellie Faris, MD
A Hastings native, Shellie Faris, MD received her Bachelor’s Degree from Hastings College and her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She received her general surgery training in Pennsylvania and practiced for the past seven years as a general surgeon prior to returning to the area.
“It is a great privilege to be able to take care of my friends, family and neighbors,” Faris said. “It’s what I like about smalltown general surgery.”
Faris, who was born at Mary Lanning and grew up in Hastings, said she wasn’t always interested in becoming a doctor. But working as a nurse’s aide on the Mary Lanning Behavioral Services Unit helped pique her interest in healthcare.
Faris said she is very pleased with the quality of care she has seen at Mary Lanning Healthcare.
“Everyone has been very professional,” Faris said. “We have excellent nurses and staff. All the employees are very friendly and have created a very welcoming environment.”
