Lung Cancer Screening
Lung cancer is to blame for nearly one-fourth of all cancer deaths, according to the American Lung Association. Early detection increases survival rates. Mary Lanning Healthcare and the Morrison Cancer Center’s Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) program helps with early detection.
If you feel you meet the following criteria, please ask your primary care provider about referral to the LCS program:
- Between ages 50 and 80
- Have a history of heavy smoking (at least one pack/day for 20 years or more)
- Are a current smoker or quit within the last 15 years
What to expect
Mary Lanning Healthcare and the Morrison Cancer Center are proud to support early detection through our new Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) program.
Lung cancer screening is a simple low-dose computed tomography (or CT) scan of the chest each year for those people considered high risk. In this exam, the CT scanner uses low doses of radiation to obtain detailed images of your lungs and chest. The exam takes only five minutes. This procedure is quick and non-invasive.
