What You Can Expect
When you arrive, a member of the Emergency Triage Team evaluates your condition and assigns you to the most appropriate area of the department. This assures the most seriously ill and/or injured patients are treated first.
Unless you have a life-threatening illness or injury, you are asked to sign a consent form to authorize appropriate medical treatment, determined by the Emergency Services Team. Consent from a parent or legal guardian is required for children 19 years of age and younger.
Creating a record of your visit is important. After being evaluated and/or treated, you are asked to complete some forms with your personal health information, your family’s medical history and your medical insurance coverage. The HIPAA Privacy Rule protects this information.
