School of Respiratory Therapy
Respiratory Care is an exciting and in-demand healthcare career. Through a partnership with Nebraska Methodist College, you can earn an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Care on the Mary Lanning Healthcare campus.
Students enrolled in or who have completed the prerequistie college coursework may apply to the Respiratory Care Program at Nebraska Methodist College (NMC). NMC has a nationally accredited program of study for advanced respiratory care practitioners. Upon completion of the Associate Degree, graduates are eligible to take national board examinations leading to the credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
This one year accelerated program begins in May and finishes in 12 months. Students attend classes in Hastings via video-conferencing, and gain most of their professional experience at the bedside at Mary Lanning Healthcare. After just three semesters, you are eligible to join the growing profession of Respiratory Care.
Program Admission Criteria
Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required for application. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:
- High school record
- College record
- Math and science courses
- Shadowing a professional in a respiratory care department (highly encouraged)
- Fulfillment of program technical standards
Program Application Process
The following items must be submitted to the Admissions Office:
- NMC Undergraduate Application with $25 application fee
- Written personal statement
- Official high school transcript
- If appropriate, official GED test scores
- Official transcripts from all colleges attended
- Personal interview
Program Prerequisites
Required coursework must be complete with a grade of C- or above at a regionally accredited institution.
