Mary Lanning Healthcare created an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) in 2017. Mary Lanning Healthcare’s ASP has been recognized by the American Journal of Health — System Pharmacy (AJHP), a national academic publication. The program’s success has also been presented at multiple state and national infectious disease conferences, including Infectious Disease Society of America’s (IDSA) annual conference.
Opioid Stewardship aims to assure judicious and appropriate opioid prescribing, appropriate opioid disposal, diversion prevention, and management of the effects of opioid use. Mary Lanning Healthcare created an Opioid Stewardship Program in 2019.
Mary Lanning Healthcare Pharmacy is part of the Nebraska MEDS Coalition drug disposal program, where anyone can bring in unwanted medications, including opioids, for disposal. In addition, the Opioid Stewardship Team has initiated several practice changes to reduce opioid use and assure safe use for patients who need opioid medications while they are in the hospital or when going home.
