Important information about your surgery
Our care and concern for you begins prior to your surgery and continues throughout your recovery period. You play a key role in your successful recovery. Understanding your surgical procedure, and what is expected of you, is essential to a quicker recovery. We involve you in your treatment every step of the way. To help decide the best plan of care, be sure to discuss with your nurse any special needs. Every detail, from pre-operative teaching to post-operative exercising, is reviewed with you.
Your Pre-Admission Visit
Your surgeon will schedule a pre-surgical physical and testing with your primary care physician.

9:00am - 6:00pm
Inform your nurse if you have had a cardiology workup within the last year, so this information can be added to your chart.
During your visit, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- Height and weight
- Allergies to food, drugs and latex
- A list of your current medications, including
- Drug name and dosage
- Vitamins

We also ask about your plans to care for yourself after your surgery. Please talk to your nurse or therapist about your needs and/or concerns.
Important note:
You must notify your pre-op nurse if you are on a blood thinner medication such as Coumaden® or Plavix®, and have not stopped taking it, or have not been told to stop taking it.
