Palliative Medicine is an interdisciplinary approach focused on relieving suffering and improving the quality of life for people with serious or chronic illnesses. The Mary Lanning palliative care team is here to help you feel better through specialized expertise in managing symptoms. We are here to help you and your family determine what is most important to you in line with your goals and values and to help you navigate how to match your medical care with these goals. Our role is to provide holistic care covering body, mind, and spirit so you and your family can experience the best quality of life during a potentially overwhelming time.
The Palliative Care Team works in conjunction with the patient’s physician(s) to help the patient and family members define their goals of healthcare treatment and care, and to assess current and anticipated resources to help meet these goals. The team may continue to meet intermittently with the patient depending upon his or her plans and individual needs. A Palliative Care consultation may be arranged for a patient at Mary Lanning Healthcare. Physicians, other clinicians, patients and families may contact the Palliative Care Team with questions or for assistance.
