Nitzel earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wheaton College and his Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his family medicine residency in 1999 with St. Francis Family Practice in Wichita, KS. Prior to joining Mary Lanning Healthcare, Nitzel provided medical care in Muleshoe, TX serving as a local €œcountry€ doctor and ER physician. Most recently, he was Medical Director at Parkview Nursing Home. Prior to that Nitzel was the associate director at Via Christi Family Medicine Residency in Wichita, KS and the medical director with Cooperative Services International in Mongolia.
Throughout his career, Nitzel has developed special interest in endoscopic procedures, nursing home medicine and emergency medicine.
His father, Dr. Dale Nitzel, influenced the Hastings native€™s passion for providing quality medical care. An internal medicine doctor, Dale Nitzel held a private practice in Hastings for 30 years.
Grant has traveled the world, sharing his time and talent with those in need of quality medical services. He spent a month in Gabon, Africa, at a mission hospital, as well his medical missions work in Mongolia, utilizing his fluency in Mongolian. Nitzel has also volunteered at Choices Medical Clinic in Wichita, a crisis pregnancy center.

Nitzel includes physical, emotional and spiritual aspects in his approach to caring for patients.
Grant and his wife, Deborah, are blessed with four daughters and five sons. The sixth child has Down syndrome and the last two are twins. He enjoys reading, music and spending time with his busy family.
