Originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, Dr. Hood received his Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Physician Assistant studies from Union College in Lincoln. He worked as an orthopedic surgery physician assistant and emergency department physician assistant in Norfolk, before receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree in 2010 from Des Moines University in Iowa. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in July 2010.
Hood, who enjoys work in the area of sports medicine and joint replacement said he is enjoying meeting the people of the Hastings area.
"It's good to be in Hastings, a smaller town with good people," he said.
Dr. Hood and his wife, Kristen, a Jazzercise instructor, have three girls and three boys.
Because he was a PA before becoming a surgeon, Dr. Hood said he has a unique perspective. PAs often serve as a bridge between patients and physicians in explaining things to patients. Dr. Hood said he has seen that entire process and how it works so he hopes he can use that experience to better educate his patients.
