Karla's nomination letter:
I would like to nominate my nurse. She was my nurse the majority of my stay here in the unit.
She always took the time to listen to me. She was always “present” during our talks. She would look at me, share with me and most importantly she was always there for me. She made it very clear that no matter what or when I needed somethings, she is there. She was there for me when I need my meds. Always explaining what I was taking and what it was for.
She always checked on me to see how I was doing emotionally as well as physically. She would listen no matter what was going on. There was a day when I was so happy I had done research on an apartment I couldn’t wait to share. She took the time to look at my choices and share what she knew about that part of town where the apartment was located. When I was upset she was there with a gentle voice and a warm touch to my hand as to say it will be okay.
The one comment she made when we first met and I was so upset as I was crying she touched my hand and simply said “It will be ok. We are on this journey together.” That was so touching I cried just because she cared.
I believe watching other staff this nurse goes above and beyond the call of duty to include me in my care, educating me in my treatment and what is best for me; as well as taking my concerns to whom needs to heat them on staff.
Thank You!
I will never forget your gentle caring touch and being on this journey together!
