Nearly 400 people attended the second annual Making Strides for Cancer Walk and Butterfly Release June 22 at Hastings College.
The Mary Lanning Healthcare Foundation, GRACE Cancer Foundation and 27 corporate sponsors helped bring about the meaningful evening to support cancer patients and survivors, honor their relationships with their caregivers and raise money for the Morrison Cancer Center. Along with the butterfly release and one-mile walk, local food trucks, a face-painting station, a photobooth and music from Complete Music made it an evening to remember.
All proceeds from this event will go toward purchasing a new vein visualizer — a device that helps trained staff to access veins quickly — for the Morrison Cancer Center. Other proceeds will go to the “From the Heart Fund” at MCC. “From the Heart” helps patients undergoing treatments who need assistance with necessities such as utilities, groceries and travel expenses.
