The annual Cancer Walk and Butterfly release event celebrates and supports cancer patients and honors their relationships with their caregivers. Held every summer, the event raises money for the Morrison Cancer Center and the "From the Heart" fund which helps patients undergoing treatment who needs assistance with necessities including utilities, groceries and travel expenses. The event not only features a one-mile walk and a butterfly release, but food trucks, face painting for kids and music.
For Hastings resident Greg Sinner, life changed on February 1, 2023, when he was told he had cancer.
“One minute, life is routine and running fast; then the doctor sits you down and tells you that you have cancer, and everything changes.”
