The Mary Lanning Healthcare Pediatric Rehabilitation team is once again sponsoring the Strollin’ for Disabilities walk on July 31.
The event, at Chautauqua Park, 2015 W. Third St., from 5-7 p.m., is meant to raise awareness for many disabilities and to raise money for the Special Children’s Fund and Brooks’s Bookshelf, two local charities.
Brooke West, MS CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist/Clinic Coordinator, at MLH Pediatric Rehabilitation said the event, in its third year, is a positive event for families, in addition to being a fundraiser for two important organizations.
The MLH Special Children’s Fund works to decrease financial stress for families needing special healthcare. It provides financial assistance for costs not covered by insurance and for travel. Brooks’s Bookshelf was created in celebration of the founder’s son to spread awareness of Down Syndrome by providing children’s books to various locations.
“We hope you will join us for fun and friendship,” West said. “The Special Scoops ice cream truck will be on hand for sweet treats, and we have some amazing raffle prizes available thanks to our sponsors.”
Registration forms are available at both MLH Rehabilitation, Suite #170, and Pediatric Rehabilitation. Suite #140, at Cimarron Plaza. Registration fees are $20 per adult and $10 for children. Children under age 5 may participate for free.
