The PAC2 Center recently received its Step 2 certification in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Resources Step Up to Quality program.
DHHS created the Step Up to Quality program as a way to help families identify early childhood providers who demonstrate a commitment to quality care. The PAC2 Center changed hands in 2023 from the YMCA to Mary Lanning Healthcare. Because of the transition, the PAC2 Center, a licensed child care center, re-started the Step Up pathway.
As part of Step 2, the PAC2 Center completed at least four Early Learning Guidelines; special care training; an introduction to the Environment Rating Scales or the CLASS training; a pre-self-assessment and a request to work one-on-one with a coach.
The Step Up to Quality is an ongoing process, according to the DHHS website. Programs enrolled have access to coaching and resources that help them stay on the path to higher quality.
