A flag raising ceremony highlights events in April as Mary Lanning Healthcare recognizes National Donate Life Month.
The flag raising will take place on the east side of the main MLH Tower Building at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4. The ceremony will feature donor families as guests of honor.
MLH nursing directors, Laurie Stevens and Casie Grubbs, and members of Live On Nebraska said they hope the events will raise awareness among MLH staff members and the community about the importance of organ donation.
According to Live On Nebraska, 100,000 Americans need an organ transplant to save their life. Six organs can be donated: heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, small intestine and pancreas. With these gifts, one donor can save up to eight lives.
