Becker’s Hospital Review recently recognized Mary Lanning Healthcare as one of 116 hospitals in the nation with unplanned readmission rates below the national average.
The recognition is based on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) provider data for hospital return days, unplanned readmissions and measures of unplanned hospital visits after outpatient procedures, according to Becker’s. Data was collected from July 2022 through June 2023.
CMS found the national hospital-wide readmission rate was 14.6.
MLH was the only Nebraska hospital listed in the article from August 9, 2024. The MLH readmission rate was 13.1.
Eric Barber, MLH President & CEO, said the recognition shows that MLH providers and staff members are listening to their patients and providing the best possible care.
“We want to make sure that patients leave here feeling well and that we have educated them on what they need to do to stay healthy,” Barber said. “Being the only hospital listed in Nebraska shows diligence on the part of our staff and providers.”
