Many people are familiar with heart and lung-related problems.
Unless you’ve been a heart or lung patient, however, you might not realize that patients put a lot of work into their recovery, and need expert help to reach their full potential.
But, take heart! Mary Lanning Healthcare has nationally certified rehabilitation programs for those who need short- and long-term care. It’s all available right on the MLH campus in the heart of Hastings.
The MLH cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation registered nurses have a lot of experience to offer patients, in programs tailored for individual needs. In 2020, MLH:
- Enrolled 151 new patients in monitored cardiac and pulmonary rehab programs.
- Welcomed 5,798 visits to the rehab gym from initial program participants and maintenance program groups.
When attending exercise through the rehab program, patients may attend between three and 12 weeks initially, followed by maintenance later on. The staff is always on hand to provide monitoring, support and encouragement.
In addition to the exercise part of the program, MLH covers many areas of patient well-being. RNs educate patients about the specifics of their diseases, tailoring the information for the individual. Other education on medication, nutrition and stress is provided by an MLH pharmacist, dietitian and licensed mental health practitioner.
