She earned her undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University and completed her physician assistant training at Union College.

Hansen began her career at Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud doing family practice, later working in urgent care in Hastings. In 2022, she joined the Children and Adolescent Clinic.

She currently serves as board president for Webster County Community Hospital. Outside of her professional role, Hansen enjoys spending time with her husband and their three boys, especially attending their activities.
