The Morrison Cancer Center’s new Survivorship Program strives to help patients who are overwhelmed following cancer treatment.
Leslie Robbins, APRN, built the program, which is available to all oncology patients in Hastings, Grand Island and Kearney. The program is offered one day a month at MCC in Grand Island and one day a month at MCC in Hastings, regardless of where patients received treatment.
Robbins said she reviews current side effects, late side effects, preventative screenings and symptoms of recurrence with patients. Personalized interventions are implemented or prescribed based on the individual’s side effects, concerns and prevention needs.
“If the patient is doing well, the goal is for yearly monitoring,” Robbins said.
So far, she said, the program has been successful, gaining referrals from the Grace Foundation and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
To see if you are eligible for the program, please call the Morrison Cancer Center at 402-460-5899 in Hastings or 308-384-2446 in Grand Island.
