The Lanning Center for Behavioral Services recently has added two providers — one through Boys Town telehealth services — who can help patients manage their medications. Both providers see children.
Janice Cunningham, PMHNP, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, recently began working with Lanning Center patients ages 12 and up for medication management.
Cunningham has worked for several years as a nurse practitioner, originally working with the geriatric population in nursing homes and hospice. She returned to school to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
“Getting my psychiatric nurse practitioner degree seemed like a natural progression,” she said. “And it kind of fit with the pandemic and the needs of the people.”
In addition to Cunningham, The Lanning Center has added telehealth services via Boys Town and Dr. Kathi Curry. Dr. Curry is now seeing children up to age 16. This special service is available by appointment twice each month. Patients will come to the Lanning Center, 835 S. Burlington Avenue, Suite 108, where they will be set up on telehealth with Dr. Curry.
Dr. Curry received her Medical Degree from Creighton University School of Medicine and completed a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship through Creighton University/University of Nebraska Department of Psychiatry in Omaha.
Other MLH providers continue to be available both in person and through telehealth from patient homes, if needed. Dr. Curry and Cunningham join Dr. Kavir Saxena, Dr. Rachel Zentner, Dr. Navdeep Sood, Suzi Gregg, APRN, Catherine Phillips, APRN, and Erica Ferrell, APRN as providers offering medication management through The Lanning Center.
“We realize the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in the area, and we hope to continue to provide services to as many people as possible on an inpatient and outpatient basis,” said Kim Kern, MLH Director of Behavioral Services. “These new providers will help us in doing just that.”
