HASTINGS — 2017 at Mary Lannning Healthcare saw a record number of births — topping 1,000 with more expected yet this week.
And now the staff is awaiting the first baby born in 2018! As we enter the long holiday weekend, it will be interesting to see if the first baby will arrive shortly after midnight on January 1 or several days later.
Shana Schultz, Director of the Family Care Center, said 2017 saw the second highest number of births ever at MLH, with the highest number being during World War II. She said she is excited to kick off another busy year, welcoming new babies and their families.
In keeping with tradition, Mary Lanning will present a gift to the first baby of 2018.
Members of the media who wish to check if a New Year’s baby has arrived may call Brandy Rogers or Dessa Farrand in the Family Care Center on Monday, January 1.
