Six area high school students will sign their letters of intent for the Project SEARCH program at Mary Lanning Healthcare in April.
The signing day event for the 2025-26 program will be Thursday, April 17, at 12:30 p.m. at MLH in Conference Room 1, located on the Ground Floor.
Project SEARCH, a one-year work training program, started at MLH in fall 2001. Eighty percent of student participants remain working in some form of employment.
During the 2025-26 school year, students who sign up will be trained to work in various jobs at MLH. Participants are students at Hastings, Adams Central, Kenesaw and Doniphan-Trumbull schools.
The program is a partnership among MLH, Educational Service Unit 9, Vocational Rehabilitation Services and the Department of Health and Human Services.
About Project SEARCH:
Project SEARCH was developed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, which is still the administrative headquarters for the organization. Project SEARCH is a business-led, one-year work-preparation program for young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Most participants are enrolled while transitioning from high school to work. The hallmark of Project SEARCH is total workplace immersion, which facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration and hands-on training. Project SEARCH’s primary objective is to secure competitive employment for every program participant. For more information, visit www.projectsearch.us.
