A Simulation in Motion - Nebraska (SIM-NE) truck, a statewide, mobile education system, will be part of the April educational training offered by Mary Lanning Healthcare for emergency medical professionals in the region.
The SIM-NE truck will come to the MLH North Parking Lot on Tuesday, April 18 from 2-9 p.m. Those wishing to attend must sign up in advance for one-hour sessions running through two trauma scenarios. Continuing Education (CE) credits will be issued to pre-hospital and in-hospital providers who complete the training in the 44-foot truck.
(MLH sponsors regular EMS educational sessions all throughout the year.)
The mobile simulation unit is part of a University of Nebraska Medical Center program. The program provides the units, which are based in Norfolk, Omaha, Kearney and Scottsbluff, and travel to surrounding communities.
The units provide state-of-the-art, hands-on training using high fidelity patient simulators. The simulators are the most advanced training tools available to the medical community today. Paramedic James Staab, Central Regional Coordinator/Lead Instructor for SIM-NE, will be on hand to guide the educational sessions at MLH.
Participants use real medical and rescue equipment that would be used in the field or in clinical settings. The simulators can talk, breathe and bleed. The simulator’s condition changes according to the treatment received.
Anyone with questions about how to sign up for a training session at MLH, should email Robin Lauder at robin.lauder@marylanning.org.
