Mary Lanning Healthcare patients who have a One Chart/My Chart account may recently have started receiving automatic text messages about billing. This is just one of the communication options available thanks to new technology.
Amanda Kohmetscher, MLH Director of Patient Financial Services, said the company that oversees the One Chart system recently began sending texts with updates and notices about patient accounts. In fact, email, text and traditional mail options are available in a number of categories as part of the One Chart system.
“For many of us, electronic reminders of appointments, bills, etc., are extremely convenient,” Kohmetscher said. “If some folks do not want such messages, One Chart does provide a way to opt out.”
Those who wish to opt out can log into the One Chart portal. In the upper left-hand corner, click “Menu.” Scroll down to “Account Settings.” Click on “Communication Preferences.”
Email, text and mail icons will be visible for a number of categories. Clicking the icons will change preferences. Blue icons mean the patient will receive communications through the method selected. White icons mean the patient will not receive communications.
Kohmetscher said her department strives to help anyone with questions they have concerning billing. If patients need more information about an MLH bill, they can call 402-463-4521 and ask for Patient Financial Services.
