I am a native of Western Nebraska, but first moved to Hastings with my family in 1967, and have called this my hometown ever since. I graduated from Hastings High School in 1977 and from Hastings College four years later. I received my M.D. degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1985, and then completed my residency through the Sioux Falls Family Medicine program in 1988. My first year in practice brought a great wealth of experience, as I spent six months in a small rural clinic in Wessington Springs, SD and then 6 months as a mission volunteer in the Philippines with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. I then joined Hastings Family Practice in November of 1989 and have continued practice here ever since, transitioning to management by Mary Lanning Healthcare in 2011.
My wife and I have a son and two married daughters. I have been actively involved as a member of First Christian Church and in Kiwanis club. I volunteer extensively with the Boy Scouts as well. I enjoy music and play trombone in a brass choir. Additional interests include reading, running, swimming and attending sports events.
