Donald Snodgrass, MD

Dr. Snodgrass is an internist with 28 years of clinical experience. He graduated from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas and then obtained further training in internal medicine by completing an internship and residency at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center where he went on to serve as Chief Medical Resident. In addition to an ongoing clinical practice in Internal Medicine, he served as an educator in his role as key faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center from 1991-2008. He held an appointment as Clinical Instructor at Washington University School of Medicine, serving as a preceptor in that institution’s ACES Program and has served as a clinical preceptor for students from Maryville University and University of Missouri at St. Louis Nursing Practitioner programs. He most recently was on the faculty of St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in suburban St. Louis, conducting attending rounds with internal medicine residents and medical students from St. Louis University Medical School several months out of the year.

Dr. Snodgrass holds certification in Internal Medicine granted by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been a long standing member of the American College of Physicians and was honored as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) by the College in 1998. He has had NCQA certifications in diabetes, heart disease and stroke and has been recognized annually as one of “America’s Best Doctors” for the past 6 years running.

Administrative experience includes a 6 year stint as medical director of St. John's Mercy Skilled Nursing Center and a 3 year stint as Chief of General Internal Medicine at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. He has a long-standing interest in Palliative care and is a certified EPEC (Education of Physicians in End of Life Care) trainer. He was the physician founder and first medical director of the Palliative Care Services at Mercy Clinic. Presently, he is Lead Physician for the Hospitalist Program at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings Nebraska.
