HASTINGS — The Mary Lanning Healthcare Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that current President & CEO Eric Barber has signed a new, five-year contract with the organization.
Jeff S. Anderson, MLH Board of Trustees Chairman, said Barber, who first took the post in 2013, remains committed to MLH and the community.
“Mr. Barber continues to provide positive leadership as MLH navigates the future of healthcare,” Anderson said. “His work has only improved upon the wonderful, caring tradition of MLH, and we are happy that he has accepted this opportunity.”
Barber, who lives in Hastings with his wife, Julie, and their two children said MLH and Hastings have come to mean a lot to him and his family.
“As I look ahead, I still see tremendous potential for MLH,” Barber said. “South central Nebraska is a fabulous place to raise a family, and MLH has some of the best employees and physicians anywhere. I am thankful for the chance to work with so many amazing professionals, and to call Hastings ‘home.’”
During the past four years, Barber has helped to expand service offerings at MLH and its clinics by bringing many new physicians and healthcare providers on board. In addition, MLH added a team of hospitalists, whose primary purpose is attending to hospitalized patients.
“One of my priorities was helping to create a culture of safety, building on the already positive attitudes of our staff, who truly think of their patients as part of their family,” Barber said. “I think we have done a great job of achieving that goal, but we are always looking for ways to get even better.”
Barber said MLH will continue to be a leader in the area of state-of-the art equipment and expanded services, while putting the wishes of the patients at the top of the list.
“I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the next five years,” Barber said. “I am confident the team we have at MLH is capable of great things.”
