Live On Nebraska recently honored Mary Lanning Healthcare and one of its employees for their role in a recent organ donation at MLH.
Mark Callahan, MLH Chief Operating Officer, accepted the award on behalf of Mary Lanning. Live On Nebraska recognized MLH because of a recent organ donation. The non-profit Live On Nebraska recovers organs and tissues for transplantation, maintains the Donor Registry of Nebraska and educates the public on the importance of donor registration.
Live On Nebraska presented Karee Dvorak, MLH Manager of Facilities Compliance, with the Green Cape Award. Dvorak went above and beyond her normal job responsibilities in helping to organize donation logistics, which included an honor walk for the donor.
According to Live On Nebraska, 100,000 Americans need an organ transplant to save their life. Six organs can be donated: heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, small intestine and pancreas. With these gifts, one donor can save up to eight lives.
