The Mary Lanning Healthcare Family Care Center is ready to welcome the first baby of 2023.
Donna Munsell, Director of the Family Care Center, said she and her staff are excited to kick off another busy year, welcoming new babies and their families. Munsell said that MLH will have delivered about 980 infants by the end of the year. Some statistics of note are 18 sets of multiples born during 2022, and 60 successful Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section (VBAC) deliveries.
For patients who qualify, the benefits of VBAC can be numerous, Munsell said. The patient can avoid major surgery, return to work or other activities more quickly and lower the risk for complications. Each patient needs to have a detailed discussion with her doctor regarding her specific situation before considering VBAC deliveries.
Munsell said she is proud of the high number of years of experience of the Family Care Center nursing staff.
“Our level of experience means patients can trust us to provide the best possible care for their new family,” Munsell said.
In keeping with tradition, Mary Lanning will present a gift to the first baby.
