HASTINGS — Mary Lanning Healthcare will play host to the 20th annual Hospice & Grief Conference on Friday, September 28.
The annual event provides training for caregivers so they can learn more about end-of-life issues and helping patients and their families. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the C3 Hotel & Convention Center. The event speaker is Steven Sewell.
Sewell travels nationally as a conference speaker, seminar leader, team facilitator, and chaplain endorser. His book, “AT A LOSS – Learning How to Comfort Others” was published in 2015 and “FINDING HOPE,” a children’s book about grief was published in September 2017.
Sewell graduated from Biola University and has completed several hundreds of credit hours in educational settings in theology, leadership development, pastoral care studies and thanatology. Sewell’s 25+ years of leadership, counseling/coaching and his teaching background in churches, community development, hospice/corporate chaplaincy, bereavement and business ownership gives him a wide range of experience working with people of all kinds.
His encouraging and empowering conflict reconciliation presentation has been welcomed in many settings, including healthcare, faith-based organizations and corporations. Sewell is a regular contributor to the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce and is the current Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association Chaplain Committee Team Leader where he leads an annual Chaplain Training series.
