Thayer serving as president of Nebraska attorney group
Dan Thayer of Grand Island has been elected president of Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys for 2018-19. The board of directors confirmed the vote at its September meeting in Omaha.
The Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys is dedicated to the improvement of the trial practice, the preservation of the justice system, and the protection of the 7th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, providing the right of trial by jury.
Bullington, Harden join Stuhr Foundation board
Roger Bullington, vice president of construction and development for Chief Industries in Grand Island, and Grant Harden, a tax accountant with Schroeder & Schreiner, P.C., in Grand Island, have joined the board of directors of the Stuhr Museum Foundation.

Bullington oversees daily operations for his division. He has 25 years of experience in the metal building and structural steel industry.
He also serves as chairman of the Grand Island Economic Area Development Corp. and is a board member of the Heartland United Way, Central Nebraska Humane Society, Riverside Golf Club, St. Francis Medical Center Foundation, the Grand Island Community Foundation and the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce.
Harden graduated with a double major from Doane University in December 2016, receiving bachelor of arts degrees in business administration and accounting. He and his wife, Katie, live in Grand Island. Harden is a member of the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals, a QuickBooks Online Pro Advisor, and an active member of Third City Christian Church.
Board members serve three-year terms and can serve up to three times.
Placke, Bredthauer, complete leadership program
Janet Placke, Merrick County assessor, and Karen Bredthauer, a Hall County supervisor, were recognized by the Nebraska Association of County Officials at its annual conference in Kearney for successfully completing the Institute of Excellence.
Placke and Bredthauer each received a Certificate of Achievement.
The Institute of Excellence is a yearlong leadership development program for county officials and affiliates with county government. Participants discover their personal leadership attributes, learn communication and collaboration skills, as well as leading more effective meetings and managing conflict.
Hastings pain specialist named group president
Dr. Kartic Rajput recently was named president of the Nebraska Society for Interventional Pain Physicians.
Rajput provides multidisciplinary treatment for chronic pain, including cutting-edge spine interventions. He also is an expert in cancer pain, working with the Morrison Cancer Center in Hastings. He is a psychiatrist with an advanced fellowship in interventional spine and pain management.
The society is an advocacy group for physicians, promoting guidelines and education on best practices for pain medicine.
Rajput has practiced in Nebraska for more than five years. In his practice, he offers treatment for patients who are struggling with opioid addiction, chronic pain and substance abuse.
He serves as a panel member for the Hall County Opioid Prevention Project, a grant-funded effort for Central Nebraska. He collaborates with other physicians across Nebraska to address the president’s initiative on opioid abuse, a nationwide public health emergency.
Barnes, Roberts hired by Essential Personnel
Angela Barnes and Emily Roberts have been hired as employment consultants at Essential Personnel in Grand Island.
Barnes will be directly responsible for B2B relationships, recruiting and placing top talent at client companies in the Central Nebraska area. She will work exclusively in the health care industry.
She studied English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and medical coding at Metro Community College. She has more than 10 years of experience in health care, including health care recruiting, revenue cycle budgeting, patient financial services and hospital information.
Roberts will be directly responsible for B2B relationships with a range of industries, including professional, industrial, retail and more, as well as recruiting and placing top talent at client companies in the Tri-Cities area.
Previously she worked as an office manager in Oklahoma and as an assistant manager at Casey’s in Central City.
