The two main female hormones are estrogen and progesterone. Men make them too, but women make about 10 times more estrogen and progesterone than men. Men’s main sex hormone is testosterone. Women also make this hormone, but men make about 10 times more than women.

The egg is the largest cell in the female body, but it is still only as large as the point of a needle. When a woman is born, her ovaries have more than 300,000 eggs. During the years a woman can get pregnant, about 500 of these eggs will eventually ripen and be released.

In 2013, 6 percent of all births in the state of Nebraska were to teens, down from 6.5 percent in 2012. In Adams County, 7.4 percent of all births in 2013 were to teens, down from 10.2 percent in 2012.
