Amanda Carlson MS CCC-SLP
Speech Language PathologistAmanda Carlson grew up in Deshler, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Human Sciences. She then attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas where she received her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology in 2015. Amanda began her Speech Pathology career and employment at Mary Lanning Healthcare in June of 2015 and works primarily on the Inpatient Rehab and Transitional Care Units, as well as Outpatient Services. Amanda is certified in VitalStim Therapy, PROMPT, and LSVT-LOUD. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Amanda and her husband, Bret, live in Shickley, Nebraska.
Carrie Cook MS CFY-SLP
Speech Language PathologistCarrie Cook is from Juniata, NE. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2014, and her Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Fort Hays State University in 2016. Carrie began employment with Mary Lanning Healthcare in August 2016 and works in Inpatient Rehab and Transitional Care Units. Carrie and her husband reside in Juniata, NE.
Vicki Sims MS CCC-SLP
Speech Language PathologistVicki grew up in Grand Island, NE. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders in 1976 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) and her Master's degree in 1978. She began her career as a speech pathologist at Mid-Nebraska Individual Services in Hastings, then moved on to private practice part-time in Grand Island and part-time at Aurora Elementary through Educational Service Unit 9. She began employment at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Grand Island in 1982 and worked there until early 1995. Following that, she worked in area nursing homes until she was hired at Mary Lanning Healthcare in late 1996.
Vicki has worked in Acute Care, Inpatient Rehab and Transitional Care Units, and Home Health at Mary Lanning but her main focus now is outpatient, providing as needed services in the hospital and Home Health. She has also provided services at St. Francis Hospital and area nursing homes on an as needed basis, and was a therapy supervisor at UNK.
Vicki is the speech pathology internship coordinator for Mary Lanning, which has affiliations with UNK, UNL, UNO, and Fort Hays, KS, and is a member of the Stroke Care Team at Mary Lanning.
She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and certified/trained in VitalStim therapy, Interactive Metronome, Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation, myofascial release, Beckman Oral Motor, McNeill Dysphagia Program, swallowing disorders, and modified barium swallow assessments.
Vicki resides in Grand Island with her husband, Mitch, and has three grown children, Dylan, Evan, and Mattie.
Tricia Weseman MS CCC-SLP
Speech Language PathologistTricia grew up in Hastings, NE. She attended Hastings College and the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) and received her Bachelor of Science in 2002 in Communication Disorders. She received her Master of Science in Communication Disorders in 2004 from UNK. Tricia worked as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant for ESU 10 in Lexington throughout her master's program.
She began her career in Speech-Language Pathology in outpatient pediatrics and provided services at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island on an as needed basis. She is a member and certified through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Through ASHA she belongs to the following affiliations Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders, Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, Dysphagia and Clinicians and Researchers Collaberating (CLARC). She is certified and trained in VitalStim Therapy, Interactive Metronome, Beckman Oral Motor, Deep Pharyngeal Neuromusculature Stimulation (DPNS), Myofascial Release. She has experience in Augmentative/Alternative Communication.
She began her employment at Mary Lanning Healthcare in 2007 in the areas of outpatient, inpatient, acute/subacute rehab. In 2010 Tricia received the "Caring Kind Award" from the Nebraska Hospital Association. She initiated and assisted in the development of the Oral Care Program here at Mary Lanning Healthcare and is involved in the Stroke Care Team. She provides supervision to interns from area universities. Tricia resides in Hastings and has three children, Kathleen, Tyler, and Lizabeth.
Brooke West MS CCC-SLP
Speech Language PathologistBrooke grew up in Hastings, Nebraska. She completed her undergraduate studies at Hastings College in 2004, where she received her B.A. in Elementary Education. Brooke received her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2010 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She began her career in Speech Pathology in outpatient pediatrics. Brooke has been employed at Mary Lanning Healthcare since October 2013, serving patients in outpatient, inpatient, and acute/subacute rehab. Brooke is certified in Beckman Oral Motor and VitalStim Therapy. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Brooke and her husband, Sean, live in Hastings with their two sons, Gavynn and Myles.
