HASTINGS — The City of Hastings recently approved temporary closure of Denver Avenue between Seventh Street and Ninth Street to help with a Mary Lanning Healthcare construction project in that area.
Bradley Dusatko, ML Director of Engineering, said the street closure begins 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, allowing utility work between the main hospital building and the new chiller plant. The chiller plant is being constructed in the parking lot across Denver Avenue to the west of the hospital. The work will take about four weeks to complete.
Seventh Street access to Denver will be closed. The only traffic allowed access on Denver Avenue from Ninth Street will be MLH deliveries, city and rural rescue units, contractor parking and resident access to their homes.
The west ML employee/physician parking lot will remain open via the entrance/exit along Hastings Avenue. The patient/employee parking lot to the north can be accessed from Ninth Street and St. Joseph Avenue.
Temporary signs will be posted at various locations to remind patients, visitors and Hastings residents about the street closure.
“We want to thank the community in advance for their patience and understanding during this process,” Dusatko said. “The new chiller plant will be a benefit to patients, visitors and staff, helping MLH continue to advance its quality of service.”
