HASTINGS — January 21, 1915.
William and Alice Lanning celebrated the life of their late daughter, Mary, by opening the doors of Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital just five years after she died. The hospital was to serve the community and surrounding area, providing much-needed healthcare services.
Fast forward 100 years.
Mary Lanning Healthcare remains an independent, non-profit hospital representing numerous specialties, outpatient services and clinics. On January 21, 2015, hospital officials and employees will gather with community members and state officials to rededicate Mary Lanning Healthcare. The special ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. in Conference Room #1 on the Ground Floor. Several dignitaries, including Lt. Gov. Mike Foley, and State Sen. Les Seiler are scheduled to attend the event.
Foley will read a proclamation signed by Gov. Pete Ricketts designating January 21, 2015, as “Mary Lanning Healthcare Day in Nebraska.”
Following the centennial tribute, the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will conduct an Anniversary Salute in honor of the prestigious annivesary. This will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the hospital’s North Entrance.
Members of the public and media representatives are encouraged to attend.
