HASTINGS — Mary Lanning Healthcare was named one of the world’s top organizations to help lead the global economy by engaging its workforce.
MLH representatives on June 3 accepted the Gallup Great Workplace Award®, which recognized Mary Lanning Healthcare for its ability to create an engaged workplace culture. Only a few organizations in the world are invited to apply for this award each year.
Bruce Cutright, MLH Vice President of Human Resources, said the award says a lot about the effort Mary Lanning employees, directors and administrators have put into improving engagement at MLH over the past few years. At Mary Lanning, there are 11 engaged employees for every one disengaged employee, according to recent Gallup data.
“At Mary Lanning Healthcare, high engagement translates directly into high patient satisfaction and better care for our patients,” Cutright said.
“Only 13% of employees worldwide are engaged at work, according to Gallup’s new 142-country study. The organizations we honor are ones that have worked hard to reverse what is typical, and they average nine engaged employees for every actively disengaged employee,” said Jim Harter, PhD, Gallup’s Chief Scientist of workplace management and wellbeing.
Gallup Great Workplace Award winners must meet several criteria including having 80% or more of eligible employees participating in the Gallup Q12 survey and a demonstrated link between engagement and business outcomes.
Other winners of the 2015 Gallup Great Workplace Award include CarMax, Charles Schwab and Wells Fargo. MLH was one of only 10 healthcare organizations recognized and the only one in Nebraska.
Eric Barber, MLH President & CEO, said this prestigious award shows the growth Mary Lanning has achieved over the past several years.
“MLH is celebrating this achievement, yet we plan on continuing to work on engagement and increasing efforts to improve patient safety and satisfaction,” Barber said. “We will use this award not as a stopping point but as a standard for which to measure continued efforts.”
