HASTINGS — When will the first baby of 2016 arrive at the Mary Lanning Healthcare Family Care Center? Will it be a boy or girl? Will the baby be the first for the family or a sibling?
The answers to these and other questions are always on our minds as we enter the long holiday weekend. Unfortunately, no one really knows if the first baby will arrive shortly after midnight on January 1 or several days later.
Shana Schultz, Director of the Family Care Center, said 2015 was a record-setting year for births at Mary Lanning Healthcare. Final totals will be available later this week, but it appeared the number of births would top 935 for 2015, higher than ever before.
In keeping with tradition, Mary Lanning will present a gift to the first new baby of 2016.
Members of the media who wish to check on whether a New Year’s baby has arrived may call the Charge Nurse in the Family Care Center on Friday, January 1, at 402-461-5226.
